ALTUM® Technology
An Effective System for Delivering Active Ingredients Within the Skin
The ALTUM® System utilizes micro-carriers derived from freshwater-derived sponges. These microscopic spicules (carriers) penetrate the sublayers of the epidermis, maximizing the skin’s absorption of otherwise difficult-to-absorb active ingredients.
Release Mechanism of Active Ingredients within the Skin
As crucial as the penetration of active ingredients is their release at the targeted site.
ALTUM® Technology adapts targeted anticancer drug delivery techniques to ensure that active ingredients firmly bound to spicules are released upon reaching the designated skin barrier.
What are Spicules?

Spicules are microscopic needle-like structures that form the skeletal framework of freshwater sponges. They are primarily composed of silica (SiO₂) or calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) in the form of fibrous spines.
ALTUM® Peptide Mechanism of Action

-
ALTUM® Peptides penetrate the skin barrier and reach the epidermal layer.
-
Glutathione in the skin breaks the chemical bond between the peptide and its carrier.
-
The released peptides stimulate fibroblasts.
-
This stimulates collagen production, improving skin elasticity.
How is ALTUM® Different?
ALTUM® Peptide, a tightly bound spicule–peptide conjugate, delivers peptides beneath the epidermal layer of the skin.
In contrast, other coated or impregnated spicules penetrate the skin, but only the spicules themselves, leaving peptides on the skin surface, thus limiting the effectiveness of active ingredient delivery within the skin.
When spicules are simply mixed with peptides, skin density improves by only about 2.39% after 4 weeks.
But with ALTUM® Peptide, skin density demonstrated a 9.25% increase under the same conditions.
GHK Peptide

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that function as biological messengers in the skin.
ALTUM® Technology uses GHK, a naturally occurring tripeptide found in human plasma.
GHK is known for its signaling and carrier functions, stimulating skin regeneration by activating specific cellular responses.

Why ALTUM® Peptide?
The Challenge of Delivering GHK
-
Injectable forms are not approved worldwide and have safety risks.
-
Topical formulations are limited in delivering GHK deep enough.
This is why we needed a delivery system to safely and reliably deliver GHK to the skin depth required for its effects.
ALTUM®: A Solution for GHK Delivery
-
Precise delivery of GHK into the epidermis
: Uniformly sized spicules penetrate the skin and release GHK
upon contact with glutathione, ensuring accurate delivery.
-
Controlled, safe, and effective penetration.
-
Unlike injections, ALTUM® is minimally invasive, involves no bleeding, and is not associated with injection-related side effects.
